Conversations Podcast, Episode 1
Terry wrote a book a few years ago called The Hope Habit. If the world needs anything right now, it’s a good-sized douse of biblical hope. People need to remember that true hope is much more than wishful thinking. It is a confident expectation in the goodness of God. Hope is the strong foundation upon which all of scripture rests. Just as believers need to grow in faith and in love, they also need to grow in hope.
The word today is hope! Hope pushes against the often deadly effects of despair. In times of despondency and despair, people need to hear a word of hope from God. Hope literally brings life to people lost in extremely difficult circumstances. People have a divinely given need to dream, and to hope for the future. Without hope, people are vulnerable to despair. It’s why many have given up on God.
Here are three verses Terry and Scot encourage their listeners to hear and internalize today. As it is written: “They would have despaired unless they had believed they’d see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
Meditate on these verses today:
Psalm 130:7 says, “Hope for the Lord, for with the Lord there is loving kindness and with him is abundant redemption.”
Proverbs 23:18, “Know that surely there is a future and your hope will not be cut off.”
Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans that I have for you,” says the Lord, “Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
