Jesus said...

I was hungry and you gave Me food.
I was thirsty and you gave Me a drink.
I was a stranger and you took Me in.
I was naked and you clothed Me.
I was sick and you visited Me.
I was in prison and you came to Me.

Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.

-Matthew 25:35-40

Terry Law Speaks Mission

While standing in a bread line in Russia distributing Bibles, a grandmother figure said to Terry Law, “We can’t eat your Bibles.” Her statement shook Terry to the core and changed his entire ministry philosophy. Fulfilling the Great Commission to “go into the world and preach the Gospel” goes hand-in-hand with the Great Commandment to “love one’s neighbor as oneself.”

Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry, delivered the demon-possessed. He touched humanity, and he asks his followers to do the same. We are his hands and feet on the earth today. Through us the aroma of Christ spreads. What we do for others, we do for him.

Food Security

Children’s Feeding Programs

Until all children have consistent access to nutritious, sufficient and safe food, TLS will support local food programs globally. As of April 2019, 135 million people in 55 nations (73 million on the continent of Africa) faced acute starvation. 11 million are children under age 5. That number has risen dramatically since the onset of COVID in March 2020. Supporting food programs that meet critical needs of hungry, malnourished children is a powerful way to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to support Christian brothers and sisters globally.

Water Scarcity

Water Filtration Systems

In many places around the world, potable (safe) drinking water from surface and ground sources is scare. Although water may be available, it is not drinkable unless treated for microorganisms, bacteria, toxic chemicals, viruses and fecal matter. Gastrointestinal issues resulting from the consumption of untreated water include: diarrhea, severe dehydration, cholera, hepatitis, typhoid fever, gastroenteritis, etc. These diseases are costly to treat and life-threatening. One water filtration will improve circumstances for many people.

Trauma, Loss and Grief

Christ-Centered Trauma Counseling

Even in their worst nightmares, most people cannot fathom the horrors perpetrated against minority groups in Turkey, Syria, and Northern Iraq at the hands of the terrorist organization, ISIS. While under ISIS occupation, thousands of men, women and children were killed and buried in mass graves. Young women were given as sex slaves and brides to young ISIS recruits. Untold numbers of young girls who escaped, have since committed suicide. Those who remain are in critical need of trauma counseling.

In Northern Iraq, as many as 50,000 Yazidis were forced to flee their villages and homes. Five thousand Yazidi men were massacred, and between 5,000 and 7,000 women and girls became ISIS slaves.

With its many uses for drinking, recreation, sanitation, hygiene, and industry, water is our most precious global resource. Access to clean and safe water, adequate sanitation, and improved hygiene are critical to sustaining human health and life.

Centers for Disease Control, USA

Levels of acute hunger, which were already at record global highs before the pandemic, are continuing to rise. Left unchecked, this puts millions of children’s lives at risk. The global hunger crisis is caused by a persistent lack of access to nutritious food in some of the most vulnerable communities in the world and threatens to set countries back by years or even decades in their efforts to reduce child mortality and alleviate poverty. The situation is critical. We are looking at the very real possibility that thousands of children could die.
